Graviner Oil Mist Detection Systems safeguard Diesel Engines from oil mist explosions by detection of rising levels in crankcase and ancillary spaces. Systems are approved by all major Classification Societies and have been providing protection since initial development in 1951.

The MK6 system was Introduced in 2000. Installed in thousands of vessels the system provides detection of oil mist levels at sampling points on the engine, enabling rapid warning of rising levels. These systems are fully supported by Thames for spare parts and technical assistance.

The latest MK7 systems have been available since 2012. Utilizing MK6 detector base and sample pipes, systems incorporate a graphical interface display for diagnostics and monitoring from the engine control room.

Thames stock spares for MK7 Oil Mist Detectors and complete systems to upgrade obsolete MK5 models and MK6 units if required. Thames provide technical advice regarding system specification.

Electrical interference is minimized using CAN bus communications between the Control Unit and detectors. Systems provide for connectivity to ships Alarm Monitoring Systems. Control Unit(s) are engine mounted reducing communications cable lengths to the detectors.

Additional enhancements are : Improved contamination monitoring within the detector, extending service intervals. Easier cleaning of the detector by repositioning the test LED.

Pre-terminated cables to reduce installation and maintenance times. Robust design protects against severe vibration.
